ABOUT

Welcome to my home for any and all things I find fun, interesting, and worthy of trying to get better at. I was born in the Pacific Northwest and grew up in Southwest Colorado. Growing up, I’ve always been the kid with a camcorder glued to his face filming everything and everyone that didn’t want to be filmed. The creativity and skill involved in videography instantly attracted me, it’s also how my friends and I spent our time. We’d meet up on the weekend in back alleys downtown Durango to film an intense fight scene or someone’s parent’s house to film a Tarantino-esque dialogue scene around the dinner table. As time went on, as we all grew up, getting together to film goofy scenes happened less and less frequently.

In 2017 I moved to Portland, Oregon and found myself, once again, back in the Pacific Northwest. With the change in locale came a shift in interests and a desire to explore my new surroundings. The travel bug hit me big and with this renewed sense of wanderlust I set out to explore as much of the Pacific Northwest as I had time for, often on a motorbike, and often by myself. I found the exploration and solitude intoxicating, but also yearned to share my experiences. Then on the advice of a long time professional photographer, whom I call Dad, I bought my first mirrorless camera, the Fujifilm X-T3.

The X-T3 instantly added a level of depth and purpose to my explorations. I was now setting out not just to find interesting and beautiful experiences, but to capture and share them as well. This new approach not only opened new doors, it blew them off the %&#*ing hinges! Most photographers focus on a specific niche or discipline in photography, I haven’t quite figured out what that is for me yet. As such, I try to dip my toes in just about everything. I started hunting sunrises, galaxies, and even Lego mini figures. While photographing the Oregon Timelapse Project I saw more sunrises in seven months than I had the seven years prior. I’ve met the most interesting people in the dead of night, in the middle of nowhere, photographing stars. I’ve ridden my motor bike to every corner of the state, and know without a doubt there’s still so much more to see.

Thank you for sharing in my experiences! And thank you to my beautiful wife, Ashley Spencer, for creating this site and making it all possible.
